The Very Large Display is the inverse of the Very Large Array.

The Very Large Display (VLD) sends a strong message outbound to intelligent species in the universe.

It is a large scale open source wide area hyper-participatory circuit-bent synchronous gps light sculpture, designed as an outreach campaign to raise awareness.

Two photos of Chico MacMurtrie’s inflatable Birds sculpture at the Andrew Edlin Gallery in New York City. This is a beautiful piece, which consists of 16 inflatable robotic devices. I spent a few days programming this piece for Chico in the gallery, and we snapped these images on Chico’s iPhone.

I’m very impressed with the direction of Chico’s new work, which has been getting a good deal of press attention lately, too. It’s nice to see Chico’s work getting the attention I think it deserves.

If you are in the city, I recommend a trip to one of the pieces he has up now.

Found a directory of images from a sound sculpture I created for a show at the Gershwin Hotel, in New York City, 2002.

I had been given the bathroom to work with.

This piece was made out of hundreds of cell phone speakers braided together through a shower curtain.

The curtain was connected to a recording of an old record on which I had drawn pictures with a soldering iron.

The sound the piece made quite was beautiful, and its on the page listed above, too. I wanted to make sure that the the bathroom was still usable, and I think this piece adds ambience to any toliet session. Sorta like potty art.
